The “Shangluo Caring Class” has officially been transferred to Abuzelu Primary School in Butuo County, Daliangshan, and has expanded from a single class to two.

The Shangluo Charity Foundation provides support to 70 orphans and underprivileged students in the class.

We provide them with free food, clothing, shelter, medical care, education, and psychological counseling, ensuring that these children have enough to eat, warm clothes to wear, access to medical treatment, and the opportunity to attend school.

At 11:30 p.m. on the 11th, members of the Shangluo Electronics Charity Foundation arrived in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. The road was lined with towering mountains shrouded in thick fog, and the vehicle’s speed slowed considerably. It took more than three hours to reach the school they were visiting—Abuzelu Primary School in Butuo County.

On May 12, the 2017 class of the Shangluo Caring Class celebrated their graduation. They had decorated the classroom early, and the desks were piled high with little snacks. Although the weather in Butuo County had been overcast these past few days, with occasional light rain, it did not dampen the children’s enthusiasm. Like reuniting with long-lost relatives, a group of students warmly welcomed us. Following that, the teachers and students of the Shangluo Caring Class donned their traditional ethnic costumes and presented carefully choreographed performances and talent shows.

The graduation ceremony marked a significant milestone in the students’ lives, while also providing them with an invaluable lesson in gratitude. We are confident that, carrying with them the hope and encouragement they have received, they will set sail from here, confidently looking ahead and striving to become their best selves.

Visiting and offering condolences

Following their visit to the charity class, members of the Shangluo Charity Foundation joined teachers on home visits to outstanding graduates, engaging in sincere conversations with parents and students to gain a thorough understanding of each child’s family circumstances, living environment, and personality.

Locally, a significant number of children drop out of school after completing their nine-year compulsory education for various reasons: some are orphans, living with elderly relatives; others, barely in their teens and still bearing the innocence of youth, have already become the family’s primary breadwinners.

We believe that education can change one’s destiny, and that difficulties are only temporary. As children grow, the poverty they once faced will surely become a rare source of resilience and valuable experience in their journey of development.
